PDG
Pupil Development Grant Summary
Goetre Primary School receives funding through the Pupil Development Grant (PDG) to support learners from low-income households and to reduce the impact of poverty on educational attainment. We are committed to ensuring that all children, regardless of background, have access to high-quality learning experiences.
How We Use the Grant
In line with Welsh Government guidance, our PDG spending is carefully planned to:
- Improve literacy, numeracy, and digital skills through targeted interventions and high-quality teaching.
- Support the emotional, social, and mental well-being of learners to ensure they are ready to learn.
- Provide professional learning for staff to enhance the quality of teaching and support for pupils.
- Strengthen engagement with families and the wider community to create a supportive learning environment.
- Fund additional support staff to deliver interventions that address identified learning needs.
Monitoring and Impact
We regularly evaluate the effectiveness of our PDG-funded initiatives by:
- Tracking pupil progress and attainment data, with a focus on learners eligible for Free School Meals (FSM).
- Gathering feedback from pupils, parents, and staff.
- Observing learning and teaching practices.
- Conducting termly reviews of interventions and professional learning activities.
- Reporting to the governing body and Welsh Government as required.
This strategy ensures that PDG funding is used effectively to support pupils in overcoming barriers to learning and improving outcomes for all. The school remains fully compliant with Welsh Government requirements for PDG spending and impact monitoring.
