School Development Plan Summary (2024-2027)

Our Vision At Goetre Primary School, we are committed to creating an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child is valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. Our curriculum fosters a love of learning and prepares pupils for future challenges through a strong emphasis on well-being, resilience, and excellence in teaching and learning.

Key Priorities (2024-2027)

  1. Develop a Shared Understanding of Progression

    • Ensure staff have a deep understanding of child development and assessment strategies.
    • Implement consistent, effective on-entry assessments to track pupil progress.
    • Engage in professional learning opportunities to enhance teaching practices.
  2. Improve Teaching Quality and Feedback

    • Strengthen teaching strategies to promote independent learning and pupil engagement.
    • Implement structured feedback mechanisms to support progress.
    • Extend use of outdoor learning experiences (e.g., Forest School) to enrich the curriculum.
  3. Raise Standards in Literacy and ICT

    • Enhance early literacy provision and reading interventions.
    • Expand opportunities for pupils to develop ICT and digital competency skills.
    • Provide high-quality professional learning for staff to support literacy development.
  4. Further Develop Curriculum Planning

    • Review and refine the curriculum to align with the Curriculum for Wales.
    • Strengthen pupil voice initiatives to involve learners in shaping their education.
    • Increase community partnerships to enhance learning opportunities.
  5. Strengthen Community and Family Engagement

    • Develop stronger links with families to support pupil learning and well-being.
    • Provide workshops for parents/carers to support literacy and numeracy at home.
    • Work with local organisations to enhance community cohesion and learning opportunities.

Monitoring and Evaluation Progress on these priorities will be reviewed termly and communicated through:

  • Regular updates to parents via newsletters and the school website.
  • Engagement with pupil and parent feedback.
  • Data tracking to measure the impact of interventions and improvements.
  • Reporting to governors and Welsh Government as required.

This plan aligns with national priorities, including raising literacy and numeracy standards and reducing the impact of poverty on attainment. Our commitment to continuous improvement ensures that all pupils receive the best possible education and support at Goetre Primary School.
